Take a look at some old family photos and records (certificates, awards, etc.) or watch some old family movies with your child. Take the time to tell your child some funny stories or about some important events your family members were part of.
Play your favorite classical music. Lie back on the floor with your child and close your eyes. Try to hear the violin, the french horn, the flute, the cello. What else do you hear?
Grab your dictionary off the bookshelf. Choose three words broader than your child's vocabulary. Have your child say the words. Then, together with your child, look up the definitions and have them use the words in their own sentences.
Allow your child, with your help if necessary, to take photos with a digital camera from his or her own perspective. Upload the photos and print your favorites. One might even be frame-worthy.
Okay. Not a disco fan? Then have a dance party with any music that pleases you. Crank it up and dance, dance, dance! This is great with LPs and a turntable, if you have them. If not, then make sure to share stories of vinyl in your past or in your parents' past.
