Take a hike with your child either at your local park or through your neighborhood and collect leaves of different shapes and colors. Take a basket or a bag with you to store the leaves. Once you return home, arrange the leaves in a serving bowl or layer them in a glass vase.
This is a great way to bring the gorgeous colors of autumn inside.
In your backyard, with your child’s help, create an obstacle course. Be sure to have different sections for zigzag sprinting, jumping, crawling, throwing a Frisbee to a target, and kicking a ball. Take turns running the course with your child. If you want a challenge, time yourselves and try to beat your best time. Everyone’s a winner, receiving a great workout!
In your yard or at a park, assist your child in climbing a tree. Let them hang on a branch while you spot or hold them. Let them jump if it's not too high. Share any tree-climbing stories you might have.
On a rainy day, go on an adventure to your nearest art museum, or perhaps visit your local art gallery. Be sure to ask your child his or her perspective and discuss. Share your experiences with art.
