In your yard or at your favorite park, assist your child on a rock hunt. Can you find a pet rock shaped like an animal, maybe a rock shaped like a letter of the alphabet, or a heart? Where did these rocks come from? What are they made of?
Revisit your local public library and explore some areas you might not have frequented. You'd be amazed what else besides books are available for checkout.
Have your child find their favorite ball, or grab a mitt and ball. Roll, bounce, or throw the ball back and forth to one another. Have patience! Be in the game!
Go to your local park or nature center and hit the trails. Have your child be your nature guide. Encourage him or her to explain where you are going, what you are looking for, and what you hear.
At this time of year, with all of the storms we've been having, you might notice an abundance of twigs throughout your property or your neighborhood. Have your child, with your help, gather some of them. Once you have a good amount, have your child channel his or her inner architect and attempt to build structures with them.
